Vodaland Canada is purely a supplier of drainage products and does not do any site visits or installations. That being said, we can provide guidance to the contactors you hire on product info and installation methods. We try our hardest to design our products with easy installation in mind. This is so that customers have the opportunity to install our product’s themselves in they have enough knowhow.

All trench drains we sell have a length of 1 meter (3.28ft). Our trench drains are designed to connect together to create a “run” of whatever length you require. If your project requires a specific length that whole units can’t match, most of our trench drains can be cut with the appropriate tools and still be used. Speak with a Vodaland employee to confirm that you have the right tools to cut your trench drain.

Vodaland sells both trench drains and slot drains as solutions to drainage issues. Both use the exact same trench drain channels, and the only difference is in the grate used. Trench drains use a flat grate that will be fully visible and removable once installed. Our trench drain grates come in many different sizes, materials, and designs. The slot drain is best for those that want their trench drain to be the least visible once installed. Slot drains narrow the channel to a thin slot at the top, and cannot be removed once installed due to encasement.

Vodaland categorizes its trench drains between Easy, Base, Pro, and Mega product lines. These trench drain categories are differentiated mainly on the load class that they need to meet. Easy trench drains are meant mainly for smaller residential projects that deal with pedestrian loads. Base trench drains are the middle-ground line, with drains meeting load classes A-C. These are best used for projects that have vehicle loads and need cost-effectiveness. Pro trench drains are built with durability in mind, including metal reinforcing on the channels. These are best used on commercial projects with heavier vehicles, such as highways, warehouses, and factories. The Mega trench drain line is meant to meet load classes that other trench drains can’t. They are designed to be useable in the most extreme of scenarios and are built to last. If you want reliability no matter the circumstances, the Mega line is best.

Vodaland offers several material types for our channels, and customers can use these terms to differentiate them all. Our plastic channels most commonly sold line of the 3. Our plastic channel is made of 100% recycled polypropylene plastic, which provides great chemical resistance and cost-effectiveness. Our fiber-reinforced concrete channel, made to provide great resistance to the outside environment. Fiber-reinforced concrete is concrete containing fiber strands that provide additional structural integrity. The polymer concrete channels are different from regular concrete because it uses polymer as the binder. The benefits of polymer-concrete are corrosion resistance, low permeability, and better binding potential with other aggregates. Our plastic channels are sold mostly through our website, while fiber-reinforced concrete channels and polymer-concrete channels are viewable in our catalogs and can be purchased on request.

Vodaland designs all trench drain channels to be connectable with each other via male-to-female connections. Depending on model, your trench drain may either click together or simply fit together for connection.

If you purchased pre-slope channels, they connect together in order based on the number displayed on the channel. For example, unit 1 connects to unit 2, and unit 2 to unit 3.

For piping, Vodaland designs channels with outlet options on the bottom, sides, and ends. These options change for each size of the channel, so please review the product drawing for outlet locations. These outlets can be attached to 4” Schedule 40 PVC with an adapter we sell additionally. If other piping is to be used, we recommend connecting them to the outlets via rubber couplings sold externally. Bring your pipe size and outlet size to your local hardware store and they should be able to provide you with the appropriate coupling.

Vodaland provides trench drains for any required load class. To match the right load class to project requirements, follow this link to learn the classifications: https://vodaland.ca/pages/load-classes

These 3 materials are the metal grating options that Vodaland offers to its customers. Galvanized steel is a coated steel that works to reduce rust and corrosion. Stainless steel is a type of steel designed for complete prevention of rust and corrosion. Cast iron is a type of iron designed for heavy loads. All three are great materials to use for contact with water. They vary based on pricing and load classes.

End caps need to be purchased separately in all orders. Trench drains will always have 2 open channels at either end, which will require end caps to be closed off. In the case that you are planning to connect piping to the end, you would then need to purchase an outlet end cap at the location where this connection takes place.

All trench drain pages now feature an end cap selection box, that will add the right end caps to your order depending on the depth and length of channel that you add to your cart.

Sloped trench drains include an internal slope of 1% throughout the system, while keeping the top of the drain level with the surrounding surface. This is important for applications where the movement of water is essential. We however are only able to create a max length of 8 meters using sloped channels.

We offer no-slope channels which allow you to create whatever length of system you require. These are great for applications where simplicity is key, or for applications which feature many outlet locations.

The grids are made of an incredibly flexible plastic. They can contour over hills and curve around turns easily, with the help of our rebar hooker anchors for support. The lesser the height, the easier it is to contour.

Customers can use whichever aggregate they prefer, but for vehicle loads or heavy pedestrian traffic, Standartpark recommends gravel as the only useable aggregate. The best size of gravel for use with our grids is 3/4-inch.

It is recommended in all uses, that you lay a base layer of gravel beneath the grids. 2-3 inches of height for the gravel base is recommended.

Vodaland designed the grids to be easily customizable. The grids come at a size of 9ftx17ft, but if a smaller size is needed, customers can easily cut the grid with a utility knife. To attach the grids together, it's as simple as looping zip-ties through the permeation holes of each grid.

Our anchors and geo-textile are optional products, but provide great benefit to your project. We recommend anchors for any project that has sloped or unstable ground.

We offer anchors in 2 sizes: 12-inch and 18-inch height. For the 8-inch height grid, the 18-inch height anchor is the only compatible option. The anchor is meant to hold the grid secure during the aggregate pour, and then continues to provide reinforcement and stability to the grid.

The geotextile is installed beneath the geo ground grid to assist with stability and permeability, and also does a great job at preventing weed growth through the aggregate.

Vodaland offers 3 sizes of Geo Ground Grids: 2-inch, 4-inch, and 8-inch. Picking a height is dependent on depth limitations, load class, and slope. When installing a grid, it is important that you dig out a plot so that the top of the grid is level with your ground. This depth should also include a base layer beneath the grid in the cases that vehicle loads must be met. For this reason, it is important to understand the limitations on depth for your project when choosing a grid height. Grids also can be differentiated by load class and slope requirements. The 2-inch can hold only pedestrian traffic and can be used up to 10-15% in slope. The 4-inch can hold light vehicle loads (with gravel only) and can be used up to 45% slope. The 8-inch grid can be used for all vehicle traffic and all slope percentages.

HEXpave, EasyPave, and EasyPave Pro are permeable paving grids that Vodaland offers. They all serve the same purpose but differentiate on properties and features. HEXpave is a 1-1/8” height grid, designed for light to medium loads. EasyPave is a 2” height grid, meant for any type of vehicle load up to load class D. EasyPave Pro is also a 2" height grid, meant for any type of vehicle load up to load class E. The base requirement for all these grids depends on the loads and fill of the grid. You can find out base requirements using the layering schematics on each product page. EasyPave and EasyPave Pro can be used for Grass Driveways.

Permeable paving grids and geo ground grids serve the same purpose: stabilizing the ground, containing aggregate, and improving permeability. The difference is installation and load-bearing focus.

Permeable paving grids are best for smaller areas and uncommon shapes. The permeable paving grids fit together like puzzle pieces, making installation easier and quicker. The geo-ground grids are stretched to fit a rectangular shape. These are much easier for large-scale projects that cover more square feet.

Both grids can withstand vehicle loads, but the difference is where that weight is distributed. The Geo Ground Grids contain the aggregate used, and the aggregate takes on the weight of the vehicle, with the grid preventing the aggregate from spreading due to its high tensile strength. The permeable paving grids however take on most of the load itself since it lays beneath, and the focus is on keeping the top layer of gravel from moving. This means that less gravel is needed for the permeable paving grids in comparison to the geo ground grids.

Both permeable paving grids can be used with any preferred aggregate. EasyPave and EasyPave Pro grids allow vehicle loads over soil, sod, grass; a feature not often available in Geo Ground Grids or from any competition.

Standartpark sells its permeable paving grids in square foot packages of: 20sqft, 50sqft, 100sqft, 300sqft, and 1000sqft. We provide the appropriate number of grids for that size, but you can view the quantity of grids you will receive on each grid’s product page.

Anchors are optional for our permeable pavers but provide a lot of benefit. It provides stability to the grids and prevents any possibility of shifting over time. We strongly recommend anchors for any project with a slight slope or unstable ground.

A catch basin functions as a point of collection for liquids that are either collected through the top grate or directed from trench drains. The purpose is to prevent flooding by allowing for large volumes of liquid to collect, and also to catch any debris in the internal basket before it passes through piping and risks blockages. Sediment that is too small to be collected by the basket, will collect at the bottom of the basin and not be directed from the outlet.

Vodaland provides catch basins for any required load class. To match the right load class to your project requirements, follow this link to learn the classifications:

 https://standartpark.ca/pages/load-classes

Some of our catch basins have cut-out options for trench drain connections. They can be distinguished by looking for the “U-shape” on the side of our basins. Our 12x12 basin offers a riser option which provides these cut-outs for trench drains as well. Customers may try to add their own trench drain connections, but Vodaland recommends to stay attentive to where the basket sits in relation to the trench drains.

For those that need a deeper basin than the ones we offer, they can consider a stacked basin for their project. Stacked basins are very simply: basins stacked vertically. The top basins can then have their floors removed to allow water access to the bottom basins. The only other step is to silicone seal between the two basins for a leak-proof connection.

Regular maintenance required for our catch basins is periodically removing the debris collected in the basket, and to also remove sediment build-up on the bottom with a scoop or vacuum. Customers will know best how often they need to complete this process based off their risk of debris and the quantity of liquid collected.
