One of our customers recently dealt with a significant water management issue. Their property faced heavy runoff flowing down the driveway, through the yard, and out toward the street. More importantly, the volume of water was causing persistent pooling in key areas, which threatened the long-term stability of the driveway.
Identifying the Right System
Initially, the customer considered standard 4-inch channel systems. However, after assessing the sheer volume of water coming down the incline, it became clear that a standard residential drain wouldn't provide the necessary capacity.
After consulting with the Vodaland technical team regarding installation requirements, stability, and load ratings, they determined that our 8-inch Internal Width System with Cast Iron Grates was the correct solution.
Performance and Value
While a heavy-duty 8-inch system is a larger investment, it was necessary for the scale of this water issue. When comparing options, our system was approximately 20% more cost-effective than other 8-inch industrial-grade alternatives on the market, while still providing the required durability for vehicle traffic.
Contractor Feedback & Long-Term Results
The contractor responsible for the project noted that the system was notably easy to install compared to other heavy-duty channels. In fact, based on the quality of the build and the straightforward connection process, that contractor has since adopted these systems for their other high-volume projects.
Project Specifications:

-
Depth: 8-inch internal depth
-
Grate Material: Ductile Cast Iron
One year after the installation, the system continues to perform as intended, handling heavy runoff effectively and maintaining its original finish and structural integrity.
