Horse Paddock Mud Control Case Study | Vodaland Canada

Hello Vodaland and prospective customers,

I own a private equestrian “resort” and was dealing with massive mud issues around my horse paddocks. I reached out to several companies and tried various solutions—gravel, mulch, and other options—but none of them truly solved the problem.

Initially, we laid down gravel, which quickly washed away or got squished everywhere—literally money down the drain. Next, we tried a matting system to keep the areas clean, but the mats warped and became uneven due to the mud, creating potholes and uneven surfaces that were uncomfortable for the horses.

When we contacted Vodaland, they immediately recommended the 4-inch GeoCells and provided clear instructions:

1. Lay down 2–3 inches of gravel and level it to create a solid base.
2. Stretch out the grid and anchor it down tightly.
3. Fill the cells completely with ¾-inch gravel or larger.

I asked if that was really all, and they confirmed it was. Given my past experiences, I was understandably skeptical, so I started with a single unit. It worked perfectly. Encouraged by that, we completed the full area—and the results speak for themselves.
