Commercial parking trench drain
Our commercial parking trench drain is a higher load class to allow for regular commercial vehicles and heavy traffic. It can handle more frequent vehicular traffic than our Base series, which is what makes it the perfect trench drain for parking lots. Each parking trench drain easily connects end-to-end to create a line (linear commercial parking trench drainage systems). Each parking channel drain is equipped with built-in 90-degree connections on each side (no need for adapters). This allows you to build a more complex parking channel drain than just a single line. Multiple grating drainage options and load classes provide you more flexibility in the look and design of your system.
What is the length of each trench drain?
All Vodaland commercial parking trench drains are 1-meter (3.28ft) lengths. Parking lot trench drains can be connected together for longer runs, and individual commercial drain units can be cut to match specific sizing requirements.
Is the title width an internal or external dimension?
The width categories and all other width categories represent the internal width of the channel, and the same applies to the depth sizes shown for each channel. External dimensions vary for each type of channel, and customers can view external dimensions through the spec drawings provided on each product page.
How do I connect the body trench drains together?
We design all of our trench drains for parking lots to be connectable with each other via male-to-female connections. Depending on the model, your commercial parking trench drain may either “click” together, or simply fit together for connection. It is very important that all connections are silicone sealed.
How do I connect piping?
For piping, Vodaland designs our channels with outlets options on the bottom, sides, and ends. These outlets can be attached to 4” Schedule 40 PVC with an adapter we sell separately. If other piping is to be used, we recommend connecting them to the outlets via rubber couplings which are sold externally.
Do these need to be encased in concrete?
Vodaland recommends that all our trench drains for commercial garages be encased in concrete for best reliability. Certain scenarios may not allow for the use of concrete, and in those cases customers may change the recommended installation method at their own discretion.
What are the max/min temperatures that the plastic channel can handle?
Our plastic trench drains for commercial garages are suitable for temperatures between -40 to +45 degrees Celsius. Our installation method accounts for seasonal temperature changes through the use of expansion joints.
Do your trench drain channels have a slope?
Our parking trench drains for commercial solutions are available in both sloped and no-slope options to provide flexible solutions for all industrial applications.
Why install commercial trench drains in a parking lot?
Parking lots often take up considerable space on flat land without efficient irrigation or proper drainage. For this reason, stormwater often has nowhere to go and excess surface water is left to pool in these areas. With a mix of daily loads from traffic, the surface can start to deteriorate. In an ideal world, all parking would be covered parking, but the more realistic approach is to implement sustainable stormwater management. By installing commercial parking lot drainage systems in your larger commercial sites, stormwater is redirected and keeps these lots dry and durable.
How to choose the right trench drainage for a commercial parking lot?
To find the correct drainage for your commercial driveways or parking lots, there are several recommended features to look out for. Firstly, extra heavy-duty drains all use the same material for their grates, ductile iron. This durable material has high compressive strength and with proper coatings can be corrosion resistant.
Another feature to search for is the ability to filter excess subsurface water that enters the channels. By adding a catch basin into your trench drain system, it ensures that all liquid passes through a debris basket, and prevents any large debris from entering your piping and resulting in clogging of storm water.
Available load classes for our trench drains:
Load Class A - Pedestrian foot traffic.
Load Class B - Residential vehicle traffic (no parking) and yard equipment.
Load Class C - Commercial vehicle traffic, residential vehicle parking, buses, and medium duty commercial equipment.
Load Class D - Highway road traffic and standard commercial equipment.
Load Class E - Heavy-duty road traffic and heavy-duty commercial equipment.
