What is it made from?
Our parking lot manhole covers are manufactured from Ductile Iron. This material is chosen for its high tensile strength and ability to absorb the frequent "stop-and-go" stresses of passenger vehicles and delivery trucks. Unlike standard cast iron, ductile iron is resistant to cracking under the localized pressure of tires, ensuring long-term durability in high-traffic commercial environments.
What is the purpose of it?
These covers provide safe, flush-to-grade access to essential parking lot infrastructure, such as catch basins, stormwater interceptors, grease traps for nearby restaurants, and electrical conduits for lot lighting. Engineered to meet D400 load class standards, Vodaland covers are designed to handle everything from standard SUVs to heavy delivery vehicles, providing a slip-resistant surface that protects both pedestrians and drivers.
How does it open?
Vodaland covers are designed for quick maintenance and maximum safety. To open, simply remove the single locking bolt and lift the lid using the integrated hinge. For the safety of facility managers and plumbers, the lid automatically locks in a vertical 90-degree position, preventing accidental closure during service. If the lid needs to be removed entirely for full access to the basin, it can be slid off the hinge by holding it at a 5–15-degree angle.
How do I install the cover?
Proper installation is key to preventing "rattling" and ensuring a smooth driving surface. The frame includes multiple bolt-down points to secure it to the concrete riser or catch basin. For parking lot applications, we recommend applying a silicone or mastic seal to the frame flange to prevent water seepage into the substructure. Finally, the frame must be encased in concrete or asphalt so that it sits exactly flush with the pavement. This prevents damage from snowplows during winter maintenance and eliminates trip hazards for pedestrians.

Load Class B - Residential vehicle traffic (no parking) and yard equipment
