Stormwater Trench Drains

Vodaland Canada provides high-performance stormwater trench drain systems designed for superior surface water management and long-term flood prevention. Our comprehensive municipal drainage solutions are engineered to handle high-volume runoff in residential, commercial, and industrial environments across Canada. We offer a versatile selection of stormwater channel drains with durable trench drain grates available in stainless steel, galvanized steel, ductile cast iron, and reinforced plastic to meet various load class requirements. Designed for efficient linear drainage, our systems feature integrated side and bottom outlets, precision-fit end caps, and built-in connections that allow for seamless 90-degree transitions without the need for additional adapters. From high-capacity catch basins to professional-grade surface drains, Vodaland’s products ensure reliable performance for large-scale infrastructure and site-wide water mitigation. What are the lengths of each trench drain? How do I know how much to get?

Our modular stormwater trench drain units are 1m (3.28ft) long and engineered to connect for high-capacity surface water management. To determine the length for your project, calculate the total span of the area prone to water runoff. Most stormwater channel drains can be cut to fit specific project dimensions, ensuring a continuous path for efficient water diversion.

What’s the difference between Easy, Base, and Pro trench drains?

We categorize our stormwater drainage systems based on load capacity and flow requirements:

  • Easy: Best for residential runoff in gardens and light pedestrian walkways.
  • Base: Ideal for driveway stormwater (Load Classes A-C), managing vehicle traffic and moderate rainfall.
  • Pro: Heavy-duty stormwater drains with ductile iron grates, designed for high-intensity industrial runoff in warehouses and commercial lots.

How do I connect trench drains and piping?

All stormwater channel drains—including our stainless steel and plastic options—utilize a secure male-to-female connection to maintain a leak-proof water transit system. For high-flow stormwater outlets, our channels offer bottom, side, and end discharge points. Use our adapters for 4” Schedule 40 PVC or external rubber couplings to connect to your main stormwater piping.

What load class do I need for my project?

The load class of your stormwater grate must match the traffic weight of the installation area. Whether you are managing urban runoff on a sidewalk or heavy industrial flow, choosing the correct rating is vital for safety. Visit our Load Class Guide to find the right trench drain grate for your specific application.

Where can I find pre-sloped channels?

For areas with poor natural drainage, our pre-slope polypropylene trench drain provides a 1% slope (up to 13m) to accelerate stormwater flow. We also offer concrete channel drains with 0.5% and 1% slopes for heavy-duty civil projects. Contact a Vodaland representative for a professional pre-slope stormwater floor plan to optimize your water management layout.

Available load classes for our Trench Drains:

Load Class A - Light duty, pedestrian foot traffic

Load Class B - Medium duty traffic, light vehicles, sidewalks and residential parking

Load Class C - Heavy duty traffic, buses, garages, general commercial applications

Load Class D - Heavy duty trucks, gas stations, forklifts, highways

Load Class E - Extra heavy duty, hard tire forklifts, industrial areas, storage terminals

Load Class F - Special duty, airport runways, structures with extreme loads

Our sand trap drainage products connect directly to our linear trench drain system. An inline sand trap is a great alternative to a catch basin, and it will have the same look and width as your channel system and will work as a part of your system. The sand trap can be placed anywhere you want within your run (in most cases, in the end or the middle of a line). All our sand trap drainage products offer easy cleaning and maintenance—they come with debris baskets for sediment removal and adapters to simply connect them with any depth of our channels. Sand traps also have multiple outlet connections available on all sides. This is really an all-in-one solution. Shop our inline sand traps now!
